How Tsunami Occurs

Analysing skills to select key information to summarise the cause and effect of a natural disaster.

Tsunami is one of the world's most powerful natural disasters. It mostly happens after earthquake.

The cause of a Tsunami is when big pieces of the Earth’s crust called tectonic plates suddenly shift. When these tectonic plates shift, they usually grind together. But sometimes, the plates get stuck. As they get stuck, the pressure builds. When the pressure builds, they suddenly crash into a new position. As the ocean floor moves, it creates humongous holes, that is when the water fills up these holes. After that, the water begins to move quickly making big waves. That's how Tsunamis are born.

1. A tsunami can swallow up islands in minutes.
2. They damage buildings and properties.
3. People can die.
4. People could get homeless.
5. No shelter.

I am learning to talk about How people are affected by natural disasters?.

Today we talked about How people are affected by natural disasters?. My group came up with a lot of ways Natural disasters can affect people. What I found challenging was coming up with Ideas because first we just said that it can damage houses but when our Teacher Ms Komor showed us some videos that's when we started coming up with Ideas. What I learnt was more about how people are affected by natural disasters and when there is Cyclones you can actually swim in the water.

How do natural disasters like Tsunami happen?

I am learning to talk about how natural disasters happen.

Today for inquiry we talked about natural disasters. We had to get into groups with people who had the same things like if I had Tsunami then I'll have to go with the people who has Tsunami. Here is a DLO of what I think a Tsunami is.

What I found challenging was looking for information about Tsunami. What I learnt was how Tsunamis are made.

Maths Test

I am learning to reflect about our maths test.

Today we had a maths test because our teachers wanted to know what we are good at and what we are not good at in maths. What we did our maths test on was on e-asttle. Before the test we were given paper so we can solve out the problems. I felt nervous because I thought that I was going to get most answers wrong. The questions I found challenging was the percentages, and the temperatures because I don't know much about those things and also it had some words that I haven't heard of. What I think I need to work on next time is re-reading the questions because there was lots of times when I multiplied things wrong.

What type of strategy would you use to solve percentage problems?

My First Blog For Term 3 2018

I am learning to reflect about what I did in the holidays.

(season 5 skins Fortnite)

On the 6th of July 2018 it was our last day of term 2 before we had our 2 weeks off until the 23rd of July. During my 2 weeks I played lots of Fortnite with my family and friends. I was so happy because in Fortnite there is seasons and it was about to be season 5. I had saved 850 V-bucks (Name of money in Fortnite) for season 5 so I can get the battle pass. If you don't know what a battle pass is it is a pass in Fortnite that will give you more than 100 items but you will have to unlock the items by doing the battle pass challenges and the daily challenges until you are tier 100. I have been saving 850 V-bucks to buy the battle because it was just 950 v-bucks and I could just get 100 more v-bucks then I can buy the battle pass.

1 day before it was season 5 my little brother accidentally bought a dance from the item shop for 800 v-bucks, I was so angry because I have been saving up a lot just for nothing. Another thing I did a lot was watching some YouTube videos of a big Fortnite streamer called SypherPk commentating on some players that weren't good at playing Fortnite. What I really liked about his commentating was that he was really funny and he was talking through about the strategies that those players need to work on or what they are about to do.

What I am looking forward to for this term is inquiry because I want to learn more about natural disasters. What I want to improve for this term is my maths because I find decimals and fractions are challenging for me.
