Reflection For 2018

I am learning to reflect about this year.Image result for 2018
This year was one of my best years at Tamaki Primary School cause I've made new friends and they ended up being my brothers. 3 words that I will use to describe this year is fun, funny, lots of memories. One achievement that I am most proud of is that I have been more confident in front of other people.

A new thing that I learnt about myself this year was that I am more confident then I am and I can do things that I couldn't do. A new skill that I learnt about myself was that I am good at dancing. 5 people I enjoyed spending time with was Demetrius, Aumau, Amon, Alo, and Tevita.

Camp was the thing that made a positive impact to my life because it made me learn about working together as a team with other people. Something I found challenging about this year was doing the sports activity because it was challenging.

Forming And Opinion

WALA: The importance of forming an opinion/having a belief.

Today for writing we were discussing about persuasive writing.
What we did was debating about statements that our teacher gave us as a class. The statement I liked was "There should be no school rules" and I agreed with that statement.

The reason why I agreed with it because there should be rules for schools cause if there weren't any then there would be lots of bad things happening at that school.

What I found challenging was trying to pick a side where to go because there were lots of good reasons people came up with. What I enjoyed was being able to learn about how to persuade people.

Freestyle Writing About An Image

WALT: Freestyle writing about an image.

Today our teacher asked us to write a story about a picture. This is what I wrote. Tell me what you think in the comments below.

The wind rushed through her hair as she descended the mountain at great speed for most children this would be an exhilarating, even terrifying experience, but for lucy it was just an ordinary journey to school.
Lucy’s house was in the jungle on top of a mountain.

Going to her school it was like it was full of animals. They acted like pigs, donkeys, monkeys, horse, and Apes. Lucy was the most craziest donkey person in the whole school, she went to people and whisper in their ear going HEEHOOO, she would go on her knees and crawl around making HEEEHHOOO noises.

It was very different to what my school was like because people from my school wouldn’t sit like animals and do animal sounds. My school was very normal. People would walk normal, talk normal, and sit normal.

While Lucy was going down the zipline she felt butterflies in her stomach. She felt like someone was going to cut the rope cause there were people cutting down trees.

When she almost got to the finish point she dropped her money and screamed “NOOOOOOOOO! my money, I was going to use that to go and buy me fish and chips after school”.

Then when she got to school she told her friends she lost her money while going down the zipline. Then her friends asked her “How come you come to school like this?” Then Lucy said “It’s because of my house, it’s on the top of the other mountain”.

Then after all of that her friends felt sorry for her and went with Lucy and brought her fish and chips. The end

Reading

I am learning to reflect about reading.

Today for reading we had to get into buddies of 2 and answer questions about our reading text which was turning old into new.
The person I am working with is Demetrius but he is not here today because he is at a school tournament.
Here is what I have been doing so far.

What does the author want us to think about rubbish and recycling?
The author wants us to think about what we do with our rubbish because when we throw it to the landfill it contributes to global warming and also some of that rubbish that goes to the landfill can also be recycled.

  • What does she want us to do about it?
What I think the author wants us to do about it is to think about the type of rubbish that they are throwing away because it can be recycled instead of going to the landfill.

  • How could you condense this into one sentence?
Think about what you are throwing away, you never know it could be recycled.

  • Do you agree with the author? Why? Why not?
Yes, because we are pretty much contributing to global warming and plus three quarters(¾) of the rubbish that goes to waste could be recycled.

  • Do you think other people would have different opinions? YES!

  • What does ‘turning old into new’ mean? I think it means to upgrade something like if there was a Nokia button phone we could turn that into something new like a touch screen Nokia phone.

What I found challenging was answering the questions because I had to keep on going back to the text and reading it to get the answer. What I enjoyed was getting to know what people do with the rubbish and what most things are made from.
