Reading

I am learning to reflect about reading.

Today for reading we had to get into buddies of 2 and answer questions about our reading text which was turning old into new.
The person I am working with is Demetrius but he is not here today because he is at a school tournament.
Here is what I have been doing so far.

What does the author want us to think about rubbish and recycling?
The author wants us to think about what we do with our rubbish because when we throw it to the landfill it contributes to global warming and also some of that rubbish that goes to the landfill can also be recycled.

  • What does she want us to do about it?
What I think the author wants us to do about it is to think about the type of rubbish that they are throwing away because it can be recycled instead of going to the landfill.

  • How could you condense this into one sentence?
Think about what you are throwing away, you never know it could be recycled.

  • Do you agree with the author? Why? Why not?
Yes, because we are pretty much contributing to global warming and plus three quarters(¾) of the rubbish that goes to waste could be recycled.

  • Do you think other people would have different opinions? YES!

  • What does ‘turning old into new’ mean? I think it means to upgrade something like if there was a Nokia button phone we could turn that into something new like a touch screen Nokia phone.

What I found challenging was answering the questions because I had to keep on going back to the text and reading it to get the answer. What I enjoyed was getting to know what people do with the rubbish and what most things are made from.
