I am learning to reflect about what I have been doing for reading.

Today for reading we read an article about pests. The article was talking about an invention that 3 men had made to stop pests. What we had to do was answer 6 questions about the article. Here is a DLO that I created with my buddy Aumau.

What I found challenging was trying to re-read the article because I was really tired. What I enjoyed was knowing more about our native animals and animals that I dont know.

Technology

I am learning to reflect about Technology.

Today for technology we made Brownie.

The ingredients we used was

Dry Ingredients

1 c of plain flour

1 tsp of baking powder

1/4 c of cocoa

2 tbsp coconut

Wet Ingredients

1/2 c brown sugar

120g butter(melt in microwave for 1.10m)

1 egg

1 tbsp vanilla essence.

What I found challenging was trying to not do the measurements wrong. What I enjoyed was being able to work with my buddy because this was our last session for Technology this year.

Atheletics Reflection

I am learning to reflect about Athletics.

On Friday the 16th of November 2018 we had our athletics day. Our Athletics happened at the TPS fields. The events that happened on the field were standing jump, long jump, shot put, and discuss. The event I enjoyed from the field events was long jump because I was able to learn different types of ways to jump far. We had different types of races and they were the 50m(Little kids), 75m, 400m, and Team relays.

A school value I showed at the athletics day was Manaakitanga because when my friend amon was injured from long jump I helped him up and helped him walk back to his house tent. One thing that made me happy on athletics day was the sausage sizzle & ice blocks.Why? because instead of buying it someone went and brought the whole stock and made it free for everyone.

One thing I learnt about myself on athletics day was that I am very loud and also very confident.

My Critical Analysis Of Still Images

I am learning to reflect about Critical analysis of still images.

Today for reading we talked about Critical analysis of still images. We looked at 3 photos but today I will only be showing one. The photo that I will be showing you is this one

We got given  7 questions which were

Who took the photo?

How is the subject represented in the photo?

What kinds of messages are being conveyed?

How do different parts of the image contribute to these messages?

What if the photo was taken from a different angle or cropped differently?

Who might the intended audience be?

How might different groups of people respond to the image?

What I found challenging was trying to answer the questions because it was very challenging. What I enjoyed was being able to to see what some people would do if someone was in a situation like that.

Astria: Countdown To Impact

I am learning to reflect about Astria: Countdown to impact.

Today was our second lesson playing a game called Astria: Countdown to impact. On a scale from 1-5 how successfully did I problem solve. I think from 1-5 I got 3 because I got rejected from the councils a lot of times because of the documents I did. The game is about saving planet astria from a meteor and what you have to do is try and do something to stop the meteor.

What I found challenging was trying to complete the rooms because I had to look for the documents. What I enjoyed was being able to do the game with Aumau because it was really fun and funny. The skills I used while playing this game was my reading skills because the game required lots of reading in order to save planet Astria.

Maths

I am learning to reflect about maths.

On Friday for maths I did a puzzle. The instructions were to 

"Follow the arrows to move from blue circle to the green circle.

Add the numbers as you go.

a. Find the path with the highest total.

b. Find the path with the lowest total

c. Find two paths that have the same total."

What I found challenging was trying to find out the answer because while I was counting up there would be other people saying different numbers so then I would get mixed up and end up restarting. What I enjoyed about maths today was being able to learn more about decimals.

I think my next steps for maths is to try and move to a more quiet place so I don't get confused with what I am saying.

Technological World

I am learning to reflect about Technological world.

Today for Inquiry we did Technological world. The people I worked with was Aumau, Amon, and Lofa. The type of technology we did was a Aeroplane. Here is a slide that we did.

We already added the information but today we just had to add the photos and change the background. What I found challenging was trying to look for information that aeroplanes are included in and also who invented the planes.

Maths

I am learning to reflect about maths.

Today for maths we did a grid and also a fact file. For the grid we had to answer questions in order to make a picture of something. The picture to me at the end looked like a butterfly. 

For the fact file we had to do the same thing but it spelled something out. The word that the fact file spelled out was "EACH YEAR INSECTS EAT OF THE WORLD'S FOOD CROPS".

What I found challenging was trying to answer the questions because it was subtracting decimals. The people I worked on for these task were Demetrius, Tevita, and Aumau. What I enjoyed from maths today was doing the task because it was really challenging and fun.

 

Morning Block!!!

I am learning to reflect about what we did in the morning block.

Today for the morning block Ms Treena a teacher came to the Kia manawanui class and talked about pests. Ms Treena talked about a website called Nature watcher and also something called Predator free 2050. She also talked about the type of pests that are in our country like wild rabbit, feral cat, possum, hedgehog, and more. She talked about those animals killing our native animals like

After she talked about the unwanted pests we had to go onto the Nature watcher group and comment onto a statement that someone wrote which said "Animals that are called ‘pests’ by the Predator Free groups should be treated with more respect". This is what I said.
